- Ch. 29: 4
- Ch. 33: 3
Scene-by-scene breakdown:
Ch. 16: Stegosaurus
1 body
The sailors shoot at a Stegosaurus.
Ch. 17: Watery menace
4 bodies
A brontosaurus capsizes the raft and bites three of the sailors. It pursues them onto land and mauls a fourth sailor.
Note: You can confirm that the brontosaurus bites three different sailors (as opposed to biting the same sailor three times) by counting the number of sailors. There are 14 at the beginning of the chapter, and when they are chased onto land, there are 10, followed by one straggler who gets et.
Ch. 18: Log bridge
6 bodies
King Kong shakes six sailors off the log bridge, plunging them into the rocky chasm below.
Ch. 19: T-Rex battle
2 bodies
Captain Driscoll cuts a rope, dropping a desmatosuchus into the chasm.
King Kong snaps a T-Rex's jaw bone.
Ch. 21: Cave serpent
1 body
King Kong bashes a elasmosaurus against the rocks.
Ch. 23: Pterodactyl and rescue
1 body
King Kong wrings the neck of a pteranodon.
Ch. 25: Village rampage
11 bodies
King Kong tosses a hut at two villagers and then tramples them.
There are five villagers on a palisade tossing spears at King Kong. He swats one of them off with a branch, then tosses the branch at a fleeing villager. He then bites the spearman, and demolishes the palisade, crushing the other four other spearmen.
King Kong flattens a hut, then grabs a fleeing villager and bites him. Another fleeing villager is stomped on, and a third is grabbed from his hut, thrown, and stomped on.
Ch. 28: On stage
Note: Carl Denham says here that twelve of their party met horrible deaths. The jungle expedition started with 14 sailors, and as far as we know, only Carl Denham and Captain Driscoll survived, so this makes sense. But I only counted 10 sailors killed. What happened to the other two?
Ch. 29: Flashy escape
4 bodies
King Kong bites a New Yorker. He then grabs an awning, and throws it at two others.
King Kong grabs a sleeping woman from a high-rise apartment bedroom, and drops her after realizing he got the wrong one.
Ch. 31: Train takedown
King Kong de-rails a commuter rail and smashes it in. It's unknown how many commuters are killed, but it's clear that some survive, because a few escape. It's also unknown whether or not the survivors who didn't escape are rescued. (Not counted)
Ch. 33: A mighty fall
3 bodies
King Kong swats one of the airplanes, killing the pilot and gunner.
Kong is mortally wounded by the machinegun fire, and plummits from the top of the Empire State Building.
