Surprisingly I really loved it. I saw it completely reluctantly (actually moaning and groaning all the way to my seat) just to get the Body Count and came out loving it. Singer really captures Superman's isolation visually. The use of the original, iconic score is half the battle won.
One of my biggest complaints has been the fact that most comic book films do not utilize the beauty of comic book framing. Only a few films have it... The Crow, Sin City, Blade and a few non comic films like The Matrix and Equilibrium. Most "comic" movies are really nothing more than adaptations and are not moving "comic books" which I feel they should be. Singer is getting much, much better at capturing this framework.
One weakness it has though is that Singer's action is still a tad jerky...usually a crutch used by directors who really do not know how to compose action on film.

Mystery Men, Batman Returns, Hellboy and the first Swamp Thing had a very good overall comic book feeling to them. The same with the over violence of History of Violence and Road to Perdition(both based on graphic novels). Mystery Men is really underrated.
