I'm new to the site, and was thinking of making my first count the Golden Compass, since it was recently released, my people die in it, and there is no count or discussion of one that I can see. It is hard to tell what to count, though.
In the world of the movie, every human, from birth, has a sort of companion called a daemon (pronounced but not spelled the same as demon) that takes the form of an animal. The daemon has a similar personality to the person and pain or emotion is shared between them, but they can have separate knowledge and meaningful conversations. If this daemon is killed, the human immediately dies. If the human is killed, the daemon vaporizes in a cloud of sparks. When this happens, should each pair be counted as one death?
In the battle near the end of the movie, there are a lot of people dieing and a lot of daemons disappearing. If a couple of people are killed on screen at once it is difficult to tell which daemon is associated with which person, or if the person is on screen at all.
To make things even more complicated, someone in the movie who has their demon cut away, causing them to lose all personality and essentially become brain dead. Should I even try to do a movie this complex on my first count?

Should I even try to do a movie this complex on my first count? No, please do not. Try something simple first so we can review it.
